Behind the Garden Shed (Tui 1)
Acrylic and Ink on Canvas, 22” x 28” (55.8 cms x 71.1 cms). Painted July 2025.
Tui 1 is the first in a series of paintings inspired from all the things I see and enjoy amongst the 20 acres I call home on the West Coast. With a plethora of flora and fauna there is no shortage of things to discover, and every season brings a change and new wonders to enjoy all over again.
The canvas panel has a wee repair along the bottom timber frame (looks to be a repair upon manufacturing) it doesn’t alter or weaken the frame in anyway and is as solid as. Image included.
The panting had been sealed with a gloss varnish to preserve the colours.
About me 💕 In the early 90s I started an arts degree, sadly it didn’t blow my hair back and falling way short of expectations I left feeling kinda bored, uninspired and disappointed. I found the modules a closed door when it came to experimental processes or colour theory, focusing instead on repetition and copying of what had already been done. That kinda stuff anyone can do at home without building a massive uni debt right!
So here we are 35 years later mixing, scratching and glazing ideas and happiness on canvas, colourful documentations and stories of dreamscapes and the abundance of flora and fauna found in my own backyard. And guess what? There is not an ounce of boredom in sight 🤔 I hope you enjoy them as much as I do 💕
